This is my entry for the August 2025 IndieWeb Carnival. The topic is “Colors”, and it’s hosted by Marisabel from Konfetti Explorations.
Colors. An interesting, yet challenging, topic to explore.
What shade lives in your bones?
That’s a tough question to begin with! I don’t really know how to approach it, but a good starting point could be a question I answered in a recent post, about the one color that makes me happy, which is sky blue.

To expand a bit on why this shade of blue comforts me and makes me feel happy, I guess it’s because if I’m going through a difficult period in my life, being welcomed by a blue sky in the mornings always makes it easier to start the day. And when everything is going well (which, thankfully, also happens), a blue sky is always welcome. A blue sky means good weather, brightness, positivity, and pleasurable moments.
Also, and don’t ask me why, but when I think about blue sky, I also think about this:

These three shades of blue come from three beloved video games, from the same series, and they are used to color the sky of the first levels. Can you guess? Yes? No? Check the answer below!

That being said, blue sky days are the best, but as I also mentioned in that article linked above, rainy grey gloomy days, especially in autumn, can also be very comforting and cozy.
When has color saved you?
That’s another tough one. Have I ever been “saved” by a color? I find it difficult to understand and to figure out how someone could be saved by a color, or if I’m missing some kind of metaphor and meaning in this question.
I don’t think it’s a question to take at its literal meaning. I don’t think we’re talking about the red flag on the beach that prevents us from being swept away to the open sea. Or the little red guy on traffic lights who prevents us from being hit by a car.
Obviously, it’s more of a figurative question. Though, having written the above, I realize red is quite literally the color that warns and saves people from danger, or even worse, death.

Anyway. Let’s be more metaphorical.
If a color had brought me joy and comfort, and kind of saved me from a difficult time… well… that is blue, sky blue.

Another color that brings me good feelings is green. Especially the many shades of green you encounter while wandering into nature, into a forest.

In fact, I think all colors can be lifesavers.
As for black and white, however, they are not colors but shades. They help darken or lighten colors. Pure black is the absence of color, it’s the emptiness, the void, nothing, death. Who wouldn’t want to be saved from that? Pure white, on the contrary, is all colors mixed together, so is it supposed to be the ultimate savior color? I’m going way too far and too meta. Time for the next question!

Do you dream in technicolor or monochrome?
Most dreams I remember are colorful. Always colorful. But often pastel colors, rarely vivid.

What colors define your homeland? Your life?
I’ll just drop this image without any explanation.

Any meaning color might have in your life!
Feelings, moods, emotions, memories, textures, information, cultural codes… even smells, sounds and music… all of these can be experienced through colors.

A word about Holograms
Something else, very related to colors and that always gives me some nostalgic chills are holograms. Every time I see one, it takes me back to my childhood when they were everywhere, and especially on toys and stickers.

This was my first time joining the IndieWeb Carnival, and I really enjoyed it. Thanks to Marisabel for this month’s topic, which was a bit challenging, but inspiring and fun to dig into!
